Weekend Shopping Haul!

Hi guys! So instead of a tutorial today I thought I'd show you guys what I bought this weekend!

First I went to Ulta because they were having some sales that I wanted to check out. A lot of the Ulta brand cosmetics were on sale so I got a few of those. I needed some new black eye liner and they had a deal that if you bought two eye products you got an eye liner free! I decided to give the Ulta Whipped Eye Shadow a try too. I swatched this on my hand, it's an interesting formula. It takes a minute to dry, and when it does it has kind of a different smudge proof texture. And of course I couldn't pass up on $2 Ulta nail polish. I tried to pick colors that I don't have anything similar to. I think these two will be really pretty for fall!

I picked up the Maybelline Dream Lumi concealer because I've seen several YouTube-ers raving about it, I needed an new under eye concealer. I've seen a lot about the Rimmel "Fall Catwalk" blush, and it's really pretty on. I also picked up a Rimmel eye shadow quad in "English Rose". I don't own any Rimmel products, I was impressed with the quality. The colors are very pigmented and beautiful. I grabbed the Batiste Dry Shampoo, I'd been wanting to try it for a while.

Then I went to the mall. I didn't buy much, I was trying to control myself haha. I just went to Forever21 and Bath and Body Works. I usually only buy jewelry and accessories at Forever21. I didn't find and jewelry I couldn't live without but I did find two nail polishes! One is a multi sized purple glitter and the other is a burgundy duo chrome. I also got an aqua leopard print cotton scarf, that I forgot to take a pic of.

I went to Bath and Body Works to specifically pick up the Sweet on Paris lotion. I bought the shower gel and body spray a few weeks ago and decided I really wanted the lotion too. I don't usually like scented lotions, because they're too strong for me. But Sweet on Paris is a really light scent that I love! I had a coupon for buy one get one free so I got a back up of the Carried Away shower gel.

Did you do any shopping this weekend? What did you buy?

Fave Friday: Pinks

PINK!! PINK!! PINK!! Ok I'm done yelling now hehe. I love pink, it's my absolute favorite color, no mater what shade of pink. These are my top three fave pink polishes, and it was super hard to pick just three.

OPI "Cancun Fiesta"- This is probably my all time favorite polish. It's the perfect dark creamy pink, it just looks so classic and perfect. I'm pretty sure it's discontinued now but you can find it on eBay.

OPI "Sweet Heart"- This is a very pale pink polish. It's very classy and clean looking.

Ulta "Flamingo"- I think this is pretty much the perfect Barbie pink! The formula of Ulta's polishes is very nice, and goes on easy.

What's your favorite pink polish?

Tilt: Lace

Today's Tilt is all about lace! I've always loved lace, it's just so delicate and pretty! It's also supposed to be super popular for Fall this year. I like that lace can be pretty versatile. It can be really girly, or edgy, or boho. I also like that you can try the trend, without going full on lace, with accessories like scarves or bags!

Are you loving lace? What's your favorite trend for the Fall?

Review: NYX

Today I thought I'd do a review/collection overview about NYX cosmetics. NYX is the brand that I own the most of, and probably my favorite too. I love how affordable NYX is and the quality is comparable to other brands that sell for more. They have a very wide variety of colors for each type of product, something for every personality and skin tone.

I'm so in love with NYX lip products! I've found that most of their products are very pigmented and go on very easily. Also I absolutely love the smell of their lip glosses and some of the lip sticks (not all have a scent). I've noticed a couple different scents: grape, cherry, bubble gum, and lemon. The lip glosses are not super sticky and both the gloss and lip sticks last quite a while. There are tons of colors for their lip products, I tend to stick too pinks. I am having trouble picking out what my very favorite NYX product is but I'd say it's probably the Round Lip Stick in color Narcissus, it's the perfect bright baby pink. I would also say that their lip glosses are my favorite in every color haha!

I buy most of my NYX products from either Cherryculture.com or from Ulta, Cherry Culture is a little cheaper though. Also at Cherry Culture they tend to have more of the products and more of the colors. My Ulta seems to always be out of stuff. My only suggestion with Cherry Culture is too Google swatch pictures of colors you want, the swatches on the site are not super accurate. I have bought a couple of lip sticks that I wouldn't have if the swatch had been accurate, I don't really mind that much I can give them away.

I like their eye shadows a lot too. I really like the matte eye shadows, but all are very pretty and pigmented. The blushes are beautiful and are very comparable to higher end blushes. The jumbo eye pencils are very popular with the beauty community, they're great to use as bases under shadow.

Do you like the NYX brand? If so what's your favorite product? Do you have another affordable brand that you love?

Nail Tutorial: Chevron Nails!

Today I bring you a super cute and trendy chevron nail look! I'm so in love with chevron stripes! They can be a little nautical, a little funky, a little tribal; they are just so versatile. I like to just do an accent nail with the chevrons and leave the rest solid, you could do chevrons on all your nails though if you'd like. I did see a video on how to do this from CutePolish. I thought I'd just show you some quick pictures on how to do this and a couple of tips.

1. Paint your nails a solid color, remember to use a base coat first.

2. While that dries, get out your tape dispenser (use regular scotch tape) and pull off at least a two inch long section (more if you're doing all your nails). I like to leave mine on the dispenser to keep it pulled tight, I also like to pull it a little past the end so I can have something to hold on to later. Now paint on the color that you want for your stripes, do a thin coat and wait at least a minute or two then do a second coat. Let this fully dry.

3. Now you need pinking shears (zigzag scissors), you can buy them at craft stores and you can probably find them at Walmart or Target in the craft section. Cut one end of the polished part to start the zigzag. Then cut into it again to make your stripe, this takes some practice to line it up correctly and to get the width you want. It took me a while to perfect this, I suggest practicing first before you're actually ready to do your nails.

4. Stick your stripes to your fully dry nail (definitely make sure your nails are fully dry so you don't smudge them) press down firmly. Leave the excess for now. Keep adding your stripes until it reaches your desired look. You can do just a few spread apart or several close together, up to you.

5. Trim off the excess tape as close to the edge as possible. I use cuticle cutter scissors, they allow you to get very close.

6. Seal it all with your favorite top coat.

7. Admire your pretty nails and let people wonder how you did such a good job!

This look can be changed up so much with different colors of lines and with different widths. You could even use scissors that have a different edge for a totally different look. Also you can use this technique with regular scissors to make perfect stripes.

Polishes I used for the Blue and White:
  OPI "Nail Envy Base Coat"
  Color Club "Blue- Ming"
Wet N' Wild "Never Been Kissed"
  Seche Vite Top Coat

For the Pink Nail:
  Sinful Colors "Pink Forever"
  Pure Ice "Black Rage"
  Sally Hansen "Wet Cement"
Wet n' Wild "Never Been Kissed"
  Seche Vite Top Coat

If you try this look I'd love to see pictures! Leave a link below!

What's on My Nails Right Now

What's on my nails right now, you ask? Oh you didn't ask? Well I'm gonna tell you anyways haha. So right now I have Color Club "Blue-Ming" and an accent nail with Sally Hansen "Wet Cement" with white chevrons. I'm going to be posting a tutorial on Monday on how to do the chevrons, it's super easy and fun! I love love love this blue it's the perfect aqua, it's just so pretty. It looks really good on toes too!

And on my toes,  I don't like taking pics of my toes lol, I have Color Club "Modern Pink". I really like this color. It's way more neon in person than this picture. It's a lighter neon pink if that makes sense. The problem I have with this polish, and it might just be my bottle, is that it was really chunky and streaky. I added some thinner but that didn't really help. It's still usable but I have to be really careful with it so it's not streaky or weird looking.

( Pic of polish is from the Color Club site click here to go to the site) (also ignore the fact that these are not painted very well, I painted them late last night lol)

Fave Friday: Reds

Hi guys! So today I'm going to share my three favorite red polishes! Every week I'll show you my faves of a different color. Reds are a little difficult for me, I don't wear them super often. I tend to like a more blue red than an orange red, I just feel like it looks better on my skin tone.

1. OPI "Manicurist of Seville"- I love this red it's so vampy! It's more of a cranberry red, inside it looks darker and outside or in brighter light it looks more red. This is one of my favorite colors for fall and winter.

2. Sally Hansen "Red Carpet"- This is red on red glitter polish. It's super glittery but not overwhelming. I love using this for holiday nails, it's very festive. It also applies very smoothly and isn't chunky.

3. OPI "Cajun Shrimp"- This is a long time favorite. It's the perfect red coral! It's one of my absolute faves for summer, it's perfect for toes (and nails lol)!

Comment below and let me know what your favorite red polishes are!

Tilt: Hot Pink Lips and Neutral Eyes

Lately, I've been so in love with hot pink lips with neutral eyes! I really love bright pink lips but I don't like to over do it with bright lips and dark eyes, so I've been doing a neutral or champagne lid with black liner and lots of mascara. It's such a fun look and is super fast, just swipe on some light eye shadow all over your lid and add a liner and mascara then a punch of pink lipstick or gloss and you're done!

Are there any make up looks you're loving at the moment, comment below and let me know!

Nail Swatches

If you're anything like me and have over 200 bottles of nail polish and can't remember what every polish looks like on, then you might want to swatch all your polish. I've had all my polished swatched for the last three or so years, but I recently revamped my swatches and did them all over.

When I first swatched all my polishes I only had like four wheels. So I put them all in rainbow order, and numbered them all. The problem came when I got new polish, I've more than doubled my polish since then. Every time I got a new polish I just added it to the last wheel, which meant that I had pinks at the beginning of the wheels and then a random one at the end. This made it hard when I wanted to see all of one color, I'd miss the random ones.

Anyways, I decided to get all new wheels and redo them all. So I went on eBay, the cheapest place I've been able to find wheels. These are the ones I got. I tried to find ones that came in sets of ten, and I ordered five sets. This was probably way more than I needed, but I wanted to have extra for later  and I test designs on them. Mine came from Hong Kong. Which takes a while to arrive, about two weeks, keep this in mind. In the mean time while I waited for my wheels I went ahead and numbered all my polishes. I decide the best way was to number each color separately, and put on their own wheels. This way when I get a new pink I can just add it to the pink wheel with the others. I started each color with number one and labeled them R1, R2 and so on (so Red 1, Red 2. then started each color over again) Before I just used a Sharpie to write the numbers on the bottles but I decided a dot sticker would be better. It took a couple of different stickers to find ones that would actually stay on the bottle. Make sure your stickers say permanent and not removable. I also found that since my bottles sit out in the open and get a little dusty, and they also get lotions and natural oils from your hands when you handle them; that I needed to rub the bottles down with rubbing alcohol. This made the stickers stick much better.

Once my wheels arrived I numbered each set of wheels for each color. I also put a number in the center of the wheel, so I could keep the multiple wheels for each color in order easier. Then came the fun part, swatching all the polish! I made the slight mistake of doing about 150 in one day without a window open. I was a little light headed after from all the fumes, I suggest doing this in a well ventilated area. While swatching all my polish it helped me find polish that I had kind of forgot about. I'm really happy with my new swatches, much more organized. It's also easier to pick a color from the swatches instead of digging through all the bottles.

Do you have a special way you organize your polish? Do you think I'm super obsessive compulsive for being this organized? Hahaha.

Tag Tuesday: Ultimate Nail Tag

Ultimate Nail Tag:

1.When did your nail passion start?
I really got into polish about three years ago, I think. I'd been into having my nails done before, but my true obsession started probably 3 years ago.

2.When did you start growing your nails long?
My nails aren't always long, they go back and forth. When one breaks I tend to trim them all down so that they're even. But, I've always had longish nails since I was young. I've never been a nail biter.

3.What are the secrets to growing long natural nails?
I don't really have any real secrets, I think I'm just lucky my nails grow well. But I do think moisturizing helps and keeping your nails filed nicely so it prevents breaks.

4.Do you like long or short nails?
I think I like medium length, not too short or too long.

5.Which do you prefer most acrylic, gel, fiberglass or any other nail enhancement?
I used to get acrylic nails but now I'm much more into natural nails.

6.Do you prefer false nails or natural nails?
Natural nails.

7.What nail shape do you like best, round, square, pointy, squoval?
I kind of change my nail shape off and on between square and rounded and somewhere between the two. Most of the time they are pretty much squoval.

8.What nail polish brand do you love the most?
This is hard I love lots. OPI is probably and all time favorite, but I've been very into Color Club lately.

9.If you were stuck on an island what would be the 3 nail items you would bring?
Definitely a nail file, I can not stand to have jagged nails. Then probably a moisturizer of some kind, I don't like having dry cuticles or hands. And last I think I'd want a polish, most likely OPI Cancun Fiesta.

10.Why do you love nail art? How did you get started doing nail art?
I love nail art because you can do so many different looks, and most people are seriously impressed with even the simplest of designs. I think I got started doing nail art because I saw a YouTube video showing how to do a zebra print and thought "That's cute! I can do that!"

I'd love for you guys to do this tag too! Just copy and paste it to your blog and then send me the link!

I'm Back!

I'm Back! Ok not that anyone really even noticed I was gone. Anyways, I find it kind of funny/sad that my second to last post was in February and was about how much I suck at blogging. I think I've now proven my point haha.

But, I do want to continue with this blog. I've made myself a schedule of posts I want to write, I think this will help me stay focused. I have a lot of ideas and information that I can share that will hopefully be fun for people to read. I'm going to try to start doing some nail tutorials/ideas, hopefully these will go up on most Mondays. For Tuesdays I'm planning on continuing my "Tag Tuesdays". Wednesday will be dedicated to reviews or hauls. Thursday will still be "Tilts (Things I Love Thursdays)". Friday I'm think will be "Fave Fridays" I want to show my favorite 3 nail polishes of each color, for example this Friday will be my three favorite red nail polishes. And if possible (depends on internet access) Saturdays will be "What's on My Nails at the Moment".

I hope people will enjoy my blog! If there's anything you'd like to see on my blog or that you think I should change, please comment below and let me know!
